To Those Who Bled and Died for Us.    as written by Mrs. Leonard

Your heart no longer beats, but hark,

Another poet speaks for you, the spark

Ignited by a fellow poet’s pen,

Inflames my soul and words spill forth again.

Your eyes no longer see and yet

You spirit lives, and we cannot forget

The tears you shed or shallow grave

Wherein your dear heart bled.

Your skin no longer feels, but how

You suffered and you died, is now

And will forever be revealed

In hallowed verse upon our sad lips sealed.

Your voice no longer speaks, but we,

Your spokesmen will forever be;

Destiny chose you to bear our guns,

No one shall call you our forgotten sons.
